LETTER FROM THE SECRETARY GENERAL

Dear Delegates,

“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced” – James Baldwin

I cannot come nearly as close as I would like to express the fervour with which I would like to heartily welcome you to the 2nd edition of National Public School Whitefield’s Model United Nations Conference, on the 28th and 29th of June.

Last year’s conference was a huge success and with it came some incredible learning experiences, and I am proud to say that this year we have worked to make this conference reach even greater heights than ever before. We have planned for you 2 days of diplomacy-packed fun – Committees that redefine norms, agendas that leave burning questions and you, delegates, who will only make it all the better.

A Model United Nations Conference shows us the value of humanity, the quintessential role of empathy in debate. To be a guiding light and trusty shield for others is to be a true leader and the ideal diplomat. To learn this is to understand the necessity of Model United Nations.

I hope to raise the bar for diplomacy with this conference and embody the very spirit of perfection. Me and my team have and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that this conference is memorable and enjoyable, and we look forward to seeing you delegates follow suit.

This conference provides the opportunity to be instilled with the values on which Model United Nations was first founded and enables you to kindle that flame in your fellow delegates. It was in this school 3 years ago that fire was lit in me, and I hope to do the same for all of you.

If I were to ask you to take away only one thing from this conference then it would be the ability to dream, the power of imagination. The formality of the general assembly, the tension of the security council, the rhetoric of the Political Parties Meet and the chaos of crisis enable us to give wings to our ideas, to solve real-world problems and to put ourselves in the shoes of diplomats.

The real accomplishment is not winning, it’s participating. By acknowledging the problems we as humans face and having the courage to challenge them, you pave the way for a brighter future in our society. I have no doubt that the skills you learn with us here at NWMUN 25’ will aid in whatever you choose and I am hopeful that the memories you make here will last a lifetime. Delegates, Cura ut valeas.

Yours faithfully,
Pranav Aranala
Secretary General NWMUN 25’
