AGENDA: Preventing the Holocene Extinction

FREEZE DATE: 31 JANUARY 2025, 23:59

The Next Earth Summit is a futuristic day conference, hosted by Brazil in 2025. Its main goal will be to speak about the implications of a nuclear war. Delegates will be required to place their views on the future of the earth in its current impaired state and predict what further deterioration it could cause. They will be expected to forge alliances in hope of finding a way to a better future for mankind. The committee will feature all major global powers and each of these delegates actions will alter the committee substantially. Delegates are advised to articulate clearly on their views of the crisis and be even clearer in their documentation as, if there is anything human history has taught us, it is that trigger-happiness leads to dire consequences. The Executive Board, that is, the NWMUN OC, considers the environment and its issues of paramount importance. The OC treats any issues relating to the environment as a first-class crisis and as such, the committee will follow suit – a full-blown crisis committee. Delegates will respond to pressing ecological matters in real time where their decisions have lasting consequences, therefore simulating a realistic environment. This time, the agenda of the committee is to discuss the risk of the loss of the entire human race. The most prominent risk faced by the planet is an ecological collapse, due to the recklessness of humans. Missile launches have been left unchecked, wars are prevalent and genocide imminent along with deadly radiation-caused illnesses. Tune in, as delegates debate and discuss, tables are turned, and conclusions are reached. Will the SES finally have a cure for their planet’s imminent doom, or will they succumb to it and must face the consequences?
